Harry Marshall, Icon Films’ Chairman and Co-Founder, discusses The Show That Shaped Me for Broadcast magazine.

“There was the great lesson: know your characters. The truth that follows is often far stranger and more wonderful than any fiction.”

Harry Marshall has been featured in Broadcast magazine’s The Show That Shaped Me. This ongoing series invites media professionals to discuss programmes that have influenced their lives and careers, with previous contributors including BBC2 Controller Jane Root and writer Daragh Carville.

In his piece, Harry analyses Mark Linfield’s The Temple Troop, a BBC2 Natural World film. Linfield’s “masterclass in storytelling” first aired in 1997 and drew a dramatic narrative from the every-day lives of Sri Lankan macaques nestled in a Buddhist temple.
