Work Experience

Post-Production Intern

Start Date:      July 29th 2019

Contract:        12 months

Description

Icon Films is an internationally established production company creating a broad range of factual content. We are seeking a Post-Production Intern to join us on a 12-month contract.

Icon Films has 10 offline edit suites and 3 finishing suites. The Post-Production Intern will be responsible for technical support across the edits and department including:

 Setting up, maintaining and tidying edit suites

  • Monitoring and maintaining consumables such as cables and tape stock
  • Ensuring the Technical Operations department is always kept tidy and organised
  • Managing the tape, drive and LTO libraries
  • Scheduling and processing LTO archiving jobs
  • Completing daily and weekly support tasks according to a schedule
  • Providing first line technical support to the edit suites
  • Researching and purchasing new post-production equipment
  • Ensuring that output across productions and edit platforms is of a consistently high quality
  • Writing technical documentation
  • Ongoing projects for the post-production team as required
  • Assisting other departments in various tasks including small edit jobs, converting video files and uploading files for clients
  • Assisting the IT team as required

Skills/Experience Required 

  •  Knowledge of editing software including Avid, Premiere or Resolve
  • Competent IT skills across both Mac and PC
  • Some knowledge of broadcast technology and theory such as codecs, frame rates and bit rates
  • Keeping up to date with developments in technology
  • An exceptional attention to detail
  • The ability to quickly analyse and solve problems
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Enthusiasm for developing a career in post-production

Graphic Designer (Development Team)

£300pw (6-month contract, 3 days a week)

Icon Films is looking for a part-time GRAPHIC DESIGNER on a 6-month contract, to start as soon as possible. You will be working closely with our Development Team to produce pitch proposals and motion gfx for development taster tapes, to help us sell TV show ideas to commissioners across the US & UK television industry. You should be able to bring your own visual flair to projects while aligning with Icon Films’ ethos and brand guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the development team to produce outstanding pitch materials for TV shows.
  • Advise and lead on visual tone
  • Keeping up to date with new/trending graphic design techniques
  • Source appropriate footage, photographs and typography
  • Understand design briefs and further their scope with innovative ideas
  • Collaborate with Producers to help their writing ‘sell’ the show
  • Produce, collate and upload pitch materials to various platforms ahead of pitch meetings taking place in or outside the office.
  • Work to tight deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Assisting marketing, production and commercial teams as and when required with graphic design tasks

Desired Experience:

  • Knowledge and interest in the TV industry
  • 2-3 years experience in graphic design (preferably in-house but agency/freelance work is also acceptable)
  • Experience working within film or television preferred but not essential
  • Fully proficient in Indesign, Photoshop and all other Adobe design platforms
  • Experience in motion gfx, using Adobe After Effects is very desirable.
  • High level of computer literacy
  • Enthusiasm for design trends and graphic output
  • Self-motivated and able to work to a brief
  • Problem solving
  • Ability to prioritise multiple deadlines with strong time management skills
  • Good communication skills
  • A strong visual flair
