Work Experience

With the unique role that broadcasting has in shaping and reflecting society’s values, we know that our staff and work experience placements must reflect our diverse society and will enrich our organisation. We run an ambitious and structured voluntary work experience and outreach programme across the year and encourage applicants from a variety of ages, background and locations. Our work experience placements offer an insight into the various jobs and skills needed to make television programmes for both the UK and global markets.

We continue to work closely with local schools, colleges and universities as well as charities and community interest groups in Bristol and the wider South West. We offer week-long work experience placements each month so if you are an individual aged between 16-30 wishing to gain work experience with us then please email talent.manager@iconfilms.co.uk with the subject line ‘work experience application’, telling us about yourself and why you want to do work experience at Icon Films. Please include any creative pieces, such as short films, creative writing, TikTok posts or photographs, that you feel will enhance your application. Casting Researcher/AP

We are looking for a Casting Researcher/AP on a funded development project for Nat Geo / Disney+.

Initially this is a 5-week contract starting 8th August 2022 with the potential for a longer-term opportunity for the right candidate, pending commission.

The right candidate will be contacting specialist medical experts and real-life case studies across the US and seeking and securing in-principle access to potential casting resources for the series.

Applicants should be able to build trust quickly and be comfortable dealing with sensitive subjects and contributors in a respectful and compassionate manner.

They must also be well organised and able to meticulously keep detailed research records, which they should take pride in being able to present clearly and concisely, both verbally and in written form.

The role is open to UK or US candidates, although UK candidates will need to be available to take and make calls during US daylight hours within reason (a bespoke schedule of working hours can be arranged and agreed in advance).

Documentary access and casting experience essential.

US credits preferred, but a sound knowledge of US broadcast landscape and sensibilities (i.e. tone, content and characters) a must.

Researcher

We are looking for an experienced researcher to work on an exciting presenter led adventure series for a US Network travel/adventure series. Applicants must have strong journalist skills and experience reading scientific papers and fact checking scripts. They must have good attention to detail, effective communication skills and be able to manage their time effectively in a busy environment.

This is a 6-week contract starting Monday 08th August.  The job is based in Bristol with the opportunity for remote working.

PC/Researcher

Icon Films are looking for a PC/ Researcher for a NGC Shark Fest special

In this role you will research, clear and track archive – both natural history and UGC – working within and to a budget.
Support the editorial scope of the show through fact finding, both independently and with the talent/ science leads. A primary role will be annotating the scripts and working closely with both network and internal compliance protocols. A Marine Biology / Natural History/ Zoology/ Marine Biology background would be helpful.

You will also be across the edit schedule and deliverables supporting both the PM and Edit Producer on this small but brilliant team.
The candidate should be confident, self-motivated, organised with good attention to detail and fantastic communication skills.

Experience of working for a US channels is preferred.

Please note that this role does not involve travel and is Bristol based with hybrid working a possibility.

Start date: Late July

Contract length approximately 10 – 12 weeks
