Work Experience

Assistant Producer

Icon Films is looking for an experienced Assistant Producer to work on an exciting adventure/survival series for a major US network. Applicants must have foreign filming experience ideally in remote locations, be able to generate programme content, work well under pressure and have great attention to detail.  Experience of working for US channels such as Discovery or Nat Geo would be an advantage.

Start date would be 18th November 2019 and applicants must be free to travel overseas for various shoots and recces.
Applicants will be Bristol based for the duration of the contract.

Producer/ Directors

Icon Films are looking for highly experienced Producer/Directors to work on an exciting adventure/survival series for a major US network. Applicants must have foreign filming experience ideally in remote locations, and be able manage on screen talent.  They should also be able to demonstrate an ability to lead a fairly large 7 – 10 person crew on location. Successful candidates will have worked for US channels such as Discovery and Nat Geo and be very experienced in the edit.

Various start dates from 7th October 2019. Applicants will be Bristol based for the duration of the contract.

Production Coordinators

Icon Films are looking for an experienced Production Coordinator. Starting on 21st October 2019 for approx. 6 months to work on an adventure survival series.
Applicants must be experienced in foreign filming and be confident setting up multiple shoots. The ideal applicant will also be confident in completing post production paperwork for National Geographic Channel and if possible have experience of working with PMI.

It is important that the applicant has great communication skills and is able to work to a budget and schedule.
Working closely with the Production Management team they’ll need to be super-organised, diligent, enthusiastic and enjoy working as part of a team.
The applicant must be Bristol based for the duration of the contract and have a minimum of two years’ experience within the role.

Applicants responsibilities will include:

  • To co-ordinate the day to day operations of the production
  • Setting up shoots to remote locations including obtaining visas and filming permits, liaising with location fixers and booking flights and accommodation.
  • Running shoot budgets
  • Delivering post production paperwork to the channel
  • Communicating with the channel regarding any schedule changes
  • Updating and managing the Milestone Schedule
  • Assisting with managing the post production schedule including arranging multiple commentary records
  • Preparing and delivering internal Icon deliverables

Senior AP / Story Producer - Immediate start

We are looking for an exceptional, documentary Senior AP or Story Producer with hands on experience working in South America.

A proven track-record working with indigenous groups, scientists and local agencies would be a major advantage. As would the ability to speak Portuguese and / or Spanish.

This will suit someone who has a genuine interest in natural world issues and a passion for unearthing new, surprising stories.

This role will require a highly organised, confident producer who can operate on the ground on their own during pre-production and as part of a larger team during the shoot.

Applicant must be Bristol based, but role includes prolonged period of foreign location work. (Though would consider Bristol office-based role for right candidate).

Producer/ Director

We are looking for experienced, confident and creative Director/Producers for a major new series being shot in South America in 2020.
This is an ambitious and exciting, presenter-led series, that will suit PDs with a proven track record directing high-profile talent, on a new series.

Successful applicants will need to demonstrate a genuine flair for directing ambitious natural world films, a proven track record of working with and writing for first class talent and experience delivering films for US broadcasters.

PDs will need to demonstrate an ability to lead teams in remote and sometimes challenging locations.

This series will be a blend of immersive actuality and specialist factual storytelling. So, an ability to turn complex science into accessible, amazing TV is a must. As is an understanding of shooting for GFX.

Directors must be experienced directing top class DOPs/Crews. And have experience taking their films through edit.

This is an amazing opportunity for directors looking to work at the highest level.

Spanish / Portuguese speakers….. a bonus!

Director Of Photography (DOP)

We would like to hear from Documentary DOPs who are looking for an ambitious, challenging and rewarding new series. We will be shooting in South America in late 2019 and throughout 2020.

This is an opportunity to help shape a major new presenter led specialist-factual / adventure series for an international broadcaster in one of the most visually arresting places on the planet.

The right candidate will have a proven track record of shooting memorable, surprising and exciting natural world/expedition/specialist factual films and series for broadcasters in the UK and the US.

This is a job for someone who has an ear for dialogue and content as well as an eye for a stunning visual sequence.

A proven track record running a small camera team in sometimes hostile and remote locations in South America is a must.

Experience with ropes / aerials / underwater etc. also beneficial.

Offline Editor

Icon Films are looking for first-class off-line editors who are excited about helping to shape a major new presenter-led, specialist factual / adventure series in South America.

This is an ambitious series that needs an experienced, engaged and passionate editor who is ready to make their mark on a very special series.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a flair for blending memorable natural history sequences, with authentic, immersive actuality. An interest in cutting edge CGI / graphics would be a bonus!

We are looking for an editor to cut Episode 1 at the end of 2019.

We also have additional start dates from April – October 2020.

This is a Bristol based project.
